Foundation Mission Statement

Mission Statement

The purpose of the Ogden-Weber Applied Technology College (OWATC) Foundation is to seek funding and support for educational benefits, academic enhancements, and recognition of OWATC students, faculty, and staff; and to promote the development of partnerships between the OWATC and the community.

The OWATC Foundation focuses on helping the OWATC identify and seek donations that will enrich the learning environment for students; assist the College with special projects; and help faculty and staff provide better services to their customers. Both cash and in-kind donations are accepted on a year-round basis.

IN-KIND DONATIONS

Since the OWATC focuses on providing hands-on training to its students, in-kind donations of equipment (new or used) and materials (new or scrap) are always needed to ensure that the most up-to-date skills are being taught. The College only accepts items that are usable in the classroom, and an instructor will work with you to make that determination.

FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS

The foundation accepts financial contributions on behalf of the College, and donors can specify how they want their donations to be used.

Campus Annual Fund: Donors provide financial contributions which have no restrictions and can be used by the College on an as needed basis. Contributions in this area have been used for special projects, program upgrades, specialized program equipment purchases, and new program development.

Restricted Donations: Donors provide financial contributions with a specified use. Some restricted projects have included establishing scholarships to targeted populations; purchasing a specialized piece of equipment; recognizing employees; and recognizing students, to name a few.

United Way/Combined Federal Campaign: The College is a United Way designated organization. To make a contribution through United Way, write in "#596 - Ogden-Weber Applied Technology College" in the space provided on the United Way donation form.

Student Scholarships: Donors provide financial contributions which are used to fund scholarships for OWATC students. The Foundation is currently working with the following areas of scholarship focus:

VICA - Students are awarded scholarships for placing high in regional and state competition.

High School Achievement - Graduating high school students may apply based on community and academic achievements.
